About Me

I first learned about blogging and in particular Movable Type while seeking information about Netscape 6 / Mozilla when I came across Scott Andrew's site. That was at the end of March 2002. After reading a little about blogging in general and several reviews of the various applications available I settled on Movable Type as the best solution for what I was interested in doing.

I have been programming for about 40 years now - hard to believe that it has been so long - and presently work in Java-based web applications for Rapidigm Inc. in the Portland Development Center.

In the past seven or eight years I along with my wife have had a freelance web design business and work primarily with private schools and small businesses. Over the years we have often had requests from our clients about content management (CMS) but have always deferred since the tools available were simply not ripe for general public usage. Now with Movable Type (and other blogging tools) that is no longer the case. Thank you Ben and Mena!

My goals for this site are simple: a journal of my explorations using Movable Type. I have chosen to present my triumphs as well as trials and tribulations in the form of a set Notes and as Articles which explain certain aspects in greater depth.

My hope is that you, the reader, will find them interesting and helpful. On most pages you will find provision for commenting on the topic; comments that provide greater insight or alternative solutions will be incorporated into the main body text (with due credit) so please send along your comments.

Best regards and good blogging
Bob
